Who's Chigusa?

Sanjouin Chigusa (or Chigusa Sanjouin in English format) is the nemesis to the main character off of the Shoujo Kakumei Utena game for Sega Saturn, Four Days in Ohtori: Itsuka Kakumeisareru Monogatari, whom you name (therefore, the main character is referred to as the "Player" most of the time, and that's how she'll be referred to on this site as well.

There is an interesting correlation between Chigusa and the player, one which will be revealed in the analysis section (don't worry, I'll put a spoilers warning at the top ^^).

Why Chigusa?

Some people out there might be asking the question "Why choose Chigusa for the subject of a shrine?" And it's a very good question too.

I've been in love with Shoujo Kakumei Utena for a long while. I browsed through all the sites, bought as much Utena paraphenalia as possible, and bought all the fansubs.

But one thing irked me. A picture of a girl on one of my trading cards, a girl with long, luxurious hair and a drawn out, pale face. I'd seen all the episodes, but I'd never seen the girl before! I didn't even know her name. I was instantly intrigued by the mystery surrounding her.

When I scrutinized over the net for information on this girl, I came upon Utena.net's layout that featured "Chigusa Sanjouin". At least now I had something to go by! So after more careful research, I came to find out Sanjouin Chigusa was only featured in the Utena game on Sega Saturn (sadly!). I also came to know her personality: a vicious, manipulative one, which intrigued me further (I'm a Kozue fan, what can I say).

But there is hardly any information on this wonderful character! I found not one shrine to Chigusa, besides not finding much on her personality and what not. I decided, then and there, that I would make a center where Chigusa fans or people that want to learn more about her can visit. Apparently this has come in handy. I've had many comments from Utena fans that they also could not find anything on her, and were appreciative of the information found on this site.
